AccountCache — Privacy Policy

DataIsland Software LLC  ·  Last updated: 2 July 2026

AccountCache is an account and credential manager for macOS. This policy explains exactly what data AccountCache stores, where it lives, and what — if anything — leaves your device.

Summary

AccountCache does not collect personal data. Everything you store in AccountCache lives on your Mac and, optionally, in your own iCloud account. DataIsland has no server, no account system, and no visibility into your data.

What AccountCache Stores

AccountCache stores the information you enter — account names, usernames, passwords, URLs, security questions, financial institution details, card numbers, domain records, API keys, and similar credentials — in an encrypted SQLite database on your Mac, in your application's sandboxed container.

This database is accessible only to AccountCache and to you. DataIsland cannot access it.

iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud sync, AccountCache uses Apple's CloudKit private database to sync your records across your own Apple devices. CloudKit private database data is:

  • Stored in your personal iCloud account, not in DataIsland's servers
  • Encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
  • Accessible only to you — DataIsland cannot read or retrieve it

iCloud sync is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can disable sync at any time in Settings → iCloud on your Mac.

Cross-Account Sharing (Optional)

Family and Home Office plans include an optional cross-account sharing feature. The database owner can generate a CloudKit share invitation link and send it to someone on a different Apple ID. When the recipient accepts:

  • The recipient connects to the owner's iCloud zone via Apple's CloudKit shared database infrastructure
  • Records the recipient creates are stored in the owner's iCloud account, not the recipient's
  • The recipient can see all open and shared records; private records belonging to other users remain hidden
  • All data still travels only through Apple's CloudKit infrastructure — DataIsland has no access to it

If the recipient disconnects, their records remain in the owner's database. This sharing feature uses Apple's standard CloudKit zone sharing and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

What Leaves Your Device

The only data that leaves your Mac is what you explicitly sync to iCloud or share via the cross-account sharing feature (both described above). AccountCache makes no other network connections. It does not contact DataIsland servers, does not send telemetry, and does not transmit your credentials to any third party.

Sensitive Fields

Fields such as passwords, CVV codes, API keys, seed phrases, and private keys are stored in the same local SQLite database as all other fields. AccountCache protects these visually in the UI (lock/reveal toggle) but does not apply additional per-field encryption beyond what the macOS sandbox and disk encryption (FileVault) provide.

We recommend enabling FileVault on your Mac to ensure full-disk encryption of all AccountCache data.

What AccountCache Does Not Do

  • Does not require an account or login with DataIsland
  • Does not collect analytics, usage metrics, or crash reports
  • Does not share any data with third parties for any purpose
  • Does not make network requests except to your own iCloud account (if sync is enabled)
  • Does not access data outside its sandboxed container

Children's Privacy

AccountCache is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of AccountCache after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
