Studio — Privacy Policy
Studio is a native Mac performance-capture and voice-conversion app, part of the PolySpeak voice-production suite. This policy explains exactly what data Studio accesses — including its use of the microphone — and confirms that nothing it processes ever leaves your device.
Summary
Studio makes no network requests of any kind. Recording, importing, and voice conversion all run entirely on your Mac using a local voice pipeline. Studio does use your microphone to capture performance takes, but only while you are actively recording, and only with your explicit permission. The app has no server, no account, and no analytics.
What Studio Accesses
- Microphone — used for live in-app recording of performance takes. This requires the standard macOS microphone permission prompt, and the microphone is only active while you are actively recording
- Audio files you explicitly import
- The shared local voice-library folder, read to populate the voice-conversion picker
.studiosessionfiles you open or create- A nearby
.polyprojectmanifest file, if one exists, which Studio may write export records into
Studio does not access your camera, contacts, location, photos, or calendar.
What Leaves Your Device
Nothing
As with TableRead, Studio's voice conversion runs a local Python/RVC pipeline via subprocess entirely on your Mac. No recorded audio, no imported audio, and no converted audio is ever uploaded anywhere. Microphone input captured during recording is written to a local audio file and processed on-device — it is never transmitted over the network, to DataIsland, or to any third party.
What Is Stored Locally
- Session files (
.studiosession) — takes list, character assignments, and selected voice, saved to locations you choose - Imported, recorded, converted, and exported audio files — saved to locations you choose on your Mac
- The shared voice library — local voice models used for conversion
None of this data is synced to iCloud or transmitted to DataIsland.
What Studio Does Not Do
- Does not transmit microphone audio, or any other data, anywhere
- Does not require an account or login
- Does not collect analytics, usage statistics, or crash reports
- Does not access your microphone except while you are actively recording
- Does not access your files without your explicit action
- Does not share data with third parties
Children's Privacy
Studio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Studio after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
